One of the reasons why email marketing is so powerful is because you are ultimately generating your own leads. In fact, this is how many of the top
lead generation companies produce leads that they sell for $3.00 - $5.00 each. They are generic home business leads. One of the issues in buying those leads is you are sharing them with others.
But, if you are generating your own leads, you are not sharing those leads with anyone and you are creating your own real time leads specifically targeted toward your business.
It all starts with sending leads from your
mlm autoresponder to your very own landing page (also known as
lead capture pages or squeeze pages). This is now your lead, and you don't have to share it.
Here are certain elements that need to be present in any successful landing page that you would create:
- Website Design - What if you don't know HTML, PHP, Javascript, etc. What about graphic design, video, audio, choosing the right colors, etc. The wrong combination and ratio of text, colors, and graphics can actually discourage prospects to opt-in rather than encourage them.
- Free Offer - One of the greatest tools for getting someone to opt-in to your site is to give them something for free. Many times, a free ebook that is highly targeted is a great tool. But, how are you going to write it? You'll need a sharp ecover to your ebook, nice graphics, compelling content, etc. Do you have the software to convert your ebook to a pdf file?
- Hosting Issues - You will need your own domain name and your own web host. Simple enough, but you will need to know some things before you go promoting your site.
- Media Options - Adding audio, video or flash to your page can help increase conversion and have your prospect stay longer on your page. In fact, I don't know if I would create a landing page without at least having audio.
- "Thank You" page - Once someone opts in to your site, what are you going to do on your Thank You page? You can either build a relationship for life or lose it right here.
- Tracking and Testing - When you're in school, what is a test for? To see how much you know. For the teacher, however, a test shows were you need to improve. So it is with tracking and testing. The only way you will increase conversions is through tracking and testing. If you don't know how, you're driving blind.
These are the primary elements to a
SUCCESSFUL email marketing campaign using a landing page.
You have 3 main options when creating a landing page:
- Design it yourself - This isn't a bad option if that is your specialty. If it isn't you're tripping over pennies to get to dollars by saying you can do it yourself. Consider option 2 or 3.
- Outsource it - This is smart. Go to www.elance.com or www.rentacoder.com and hire someone to design it for you. Depending upon all of the elements you use, it will cost between $100 - $400.
Another solution that I have used is 1800homepage.com. This is good for putting together most of the 6 elements listed above. They are quick and great to work with. I did their mini-site special for $67.
- Plug into a system - Most of the remainder of this page will be dedicated into plugging into a system. A system has all 6 elements ready for you and ready to go. I would highly recommend this if you don't feel your skills or time will permit doing things effectively and successfully.
