Autoresponders

One of the battles you face is finding a reliable autoresponder to use. Not all AR's are created equal. There are three main types of autoresponders:
  1. Open Autoresponders - You can import leaads you've purchased
  2. Closed Loop Autoresponders - You cannot import leads.
  3. Your own system - Many advanced users have their own server and system
Many successful email marketers use a combination of both #1 and #2. They use the first AR to drive traffic to their site and the second one to capture the prospect's information on their own lead capture page.

The purpose of this type of system is to build your own list and send out a series of followup autoresponder messages with the details of your business. A closed-loop AR has a much higher deliverability rate.

This type of system is like a funnel. Drive traffic to your landing page. Build a list of highly qualified prospects in your closed-loop system.

Below are several autoresponders we recommend. There are open and closed autoresponders. We do not have any recommendations for setting up your own system on this page. That is beyond the scope of this site. These are autoresponders that our customers are using with great success.

Recommended Autoresponders For Importing Leads

If you've purchased leads you want to import, then here are 3 autoresponders for you to check out. I have tried to include comments that will let you know why it is ranked where it is ranked. No autoresponder service is going to be perfect, so you have to decide if deliverability rates are more important than quantity, or other factors.
1) JMailerPro - JMailerPro is probably one of the best systems you can find right now. It solves 3 of the biggest issues out there right now when using autoresponders and bulk emailers in your business. a) you can import and use your own leads, b) you get your own server, IP address, and domain name, and c) the cost of the system is less than using a 3rd party system.

This is simply a great system. You will get higher deliveability rates and more emails delivered to the prospect's inbox, rather than their bulk email folder, because you are using your own domain and IP address. Don't be intimidated about having your own server. It's very easy and JMailerPro can even set it up for you. In 7 years of reviewing autoresponders, this is probably the best system I have seen. All the steps are laid out on their website. But, basically you will need:
  1. Get a domain name. I highly recommend getting a .com domain. Don't mess with the .biz, .info, or whatever else. A .com domain is more trusted and could improve your deliverability. You can register your domain when you are buying your web host. Or you can go register one at Namecheap.com, 1and1.com, or wherever. I would stay away from GoDaddy since you are going to be doing email marketing.
  2. Get your web host package from Host Gator. Click on the button that says "Web Hosting Plans" and then you will need to choose the "Baby Plan." You'll see it is only $9.95 per month. JMailerPro recommends you use the Host Gator Coupon Code: hgc25 to get your first month for a penny.
  3. Buy your JMailerPro license. You can set it all up yourself, or pay $10 more to have them do it. I highly recommend letting them do it.

That's it. You're ready to roll!
It should be noted that JMailerPro is a bulk emailer. While I catagorize it under the broader heading of "autoresponders," it is in fact an emailer. If you are looking for an autoresponder, see one of the two systems below.
2) Fire Reply - Firereply is one of the more cost effective autoresponders on the market. We have had many of our customers using them over the last two years with decent results. There are 5 different package sizes and dozens of features.

The have good online training videos to help you get started, importing your leads and entering your different messages you want sent out. If you are looking for a true autoresonder that you can program several different messages to go out over time to your list, then FireReply is a good choice. Like any new system you choose to use, be patient to learn how to do things and go through the learning curve. It's a good system.
3) Digital Ad Gear - This autoresponder has been around for quite a while now and has been good for people looking to mass mail leads. Most systems have restrictions on list sizes, forcing email confirmation, etc. However they do not have these restrictions and like to help marketers get their email out without complications.

Deliverability is always an issue in these situations however they employ a strategy of retrying mail delivery 5 times through 5 different servers before the mail is given up on. This definetely helps improve deliverability.

Additionally they have been in business for 6 years so they know the "tricks" to managing spam complaints and staying up and running.

 Recommended "Closed Loop" Autoresponders

1) Aweber - If you generate your own leads or you use a 2 part email marketing system with a lead capture page, there is no better autoresponder than Aweber. We use this for our web sites and our newsletters. We consistently get a 98 – 99 percent deliverability rate.

Aweber is one of the oldest autoresponders on the Internet, as well as one of the most progressive and technologicially advanced AR's available. Furthermore, they are whitelisted with more ISP's, meaning your emails will get delivered to more Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, GMail, Earthlink, and AOL email addresses than anybody else. If you neglect this, you are losing out on at least 50% – 67% of all email addresses.

If you're going to do email marketing with lead capture pages, you need Aweber. If you want to see what it's like, just fill in the form below and take it for a test drive.
